Parasite Control and Fecal exams
- 3 fecal balls placed in a sealed air tight plastic bag
- Should not be more than four hours old.
- Refrigerated as soon as possible after collection.
- Label the bag with your name, your horse’s name, and the date.
FEC (fecal egg count) allows the veterinarian to classify your horse as a high, medium, or low egg shedder and to be certain that the drugs you are using on your farm are still effective
FECRT (fecal egg count reduction test) prior to deworming, then another FEC 14 days after deworming allows veterinarian to test for drug resistance against strongyles.
